Roles: Composer & Audio Producer
1 Week
C.S. Lewis Maxxing is a concept album inspired by C.S. Lewis (one of my favorite authors) and SNES-era audio (favorite era of gaming) that combines 16-bit-inspired instrumentation with sampled spoken-word excerpts. This was my first project really focusing on the audio production-aspect of writing music, in which I focused on overall instrument clarity and balance through EQ, compression, and reverb in Reaper.
Reaper - Composition and production
16-Bit Game Station - Bass, guitar, and synth instrumentation
MT-Power Kit 2 - Drum instrumentation
C.S. Lewis audio excerpts - Spoken-word sample
An introductory track built around sampled C.S. Lewis audio. The music was composed to complement the spoken-word material and establish the tone of the album.

A dungeon synth-inspired track based on C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters. The darker, atmospheric sound palette was chosen to reflect the book's themes and create a contrasting mood within the album.
This is the project view for Merely Christian (Intro). I wanted to keep guitar, bass, and drums consistent while trying to add an extra layer to each song. Some songs had a brass section, while other songs, like the intro and outro, had sampled audio.
The EQ of each instrument stayed consistent for each song. I wanted to treat the guitar as the vocals for each song, and I wanted to make sure I grabbed some of the lower frequencies of the bass.
While I was using a VST for the album and not an acoustic kit, I wanted to make the drums sound realistic. Part of that process was messing around with some of the presets to make the drums sound like an acoustic kit being recorded.
